I see dead people, but…

I have to pay £3 first.

Yesterday NG and I went to Highgate Cemetery to see what we could see.

Hightgate Cemetery is in two halves – East and West. It’s £3 to get in to the East side. I asked if our ticket was valid for the West Cemetery. The old woman who sold us the tickets chuckled and said ‘Well it’s really funny you should ask as the West side is closed due to the path being washed away.’ Presumably with the rain although it hasn’t rained in London for a week. In any case she didn’t answer my question. I later looked at our tickets and saw that it said ‘Not valid for the West side.’ This does of course mean that if you want a wander around both sides, it’ll cost you £6! Or if you’re taking the family out on a fun day out around dead people, it could cost you an arm and a leg.

I like to think that people who have relatives here can get in for free. A sort of membership scheme if you will.

This simulacra was spotted by NG who at first thought it was a skull.

We weren’t to be disappointed though – we did see a skull. It was helpfully attached to its spinal cord and the rest of its bones. We decided that it was a fox.

The trees in places were reclaiming some of the headstones in what looked like a personal vendetta…

“I hate you Emma Parkes (1861 – 1924) – here I was, a happy little sapling minding me ol’ business and along comes you and your bloody headstone and crushes me. It was 30 years before I saw the sun again – you cow! But who’s laughing now eh?”

In the style of Slinkachu, I came upon this nice little swan:

Slinkachu is someone I find incredibly interesting – http://little-people.blogspot.com

Getting back to Highgate Village from where we were going to get the bus back to Haringey, NG noticed a picture on a window and said ‘Look, it’s a Nazi clinic’. I had to take a pic -

How amusing.

As you can see though, it’s a clinic for people with shoulder pain although their website logo seems now to have changed, with the arm pointing straight up! Heehee.

so…

…where was I? Oh yeah – the previous few months. They have just flown by.

I had the whole of December off as I’d saved up all my annual leave. Woooo. I even had some days which I carried over to this year and I’m writing this post in the middle of a week off. More wooooooo.

I didn’t do anything during my month off other than visit places in London, milled around, read my book in coffee shops and spent a couple of days in Brighton.

Here are some random pictures I’ve taken in the last few months:

I tried to grow my hair but I got angry with it. I had to spend time drying it in the morning and even had to buy a brush. Not for me brushes and ‘products’. I had it cut a few days after.

Pepsi was rushing around the flat banging into things, meowing and jumping up and down on things. I decided to see what was going on and found her in the bath. Silly cat!

I went to Hampton Court Palace. It was empty – no pesky school kids. Yay.

Think I’d put a bowling alley in.

Now you probably think that’s a hammer in his hand. Actually, you’re wrong. He’s in the shower and he’s holding a loofah.

Oooh, get me with some black and white photography.

Echo, echo, echo…

I really must get posting again.

I have a week off this week in which I’ll be going for walks, going to the cinema, milling around and sitting in coffee shops both reading my book and people-watching.

I shall have to catch up on all my friends blogs too.

For elucidation in later posts:

My friend Death had a baby boy. Everyone who knows her is very happy.

That means that in the last couple of years, my favourite people have all had kids: Gond, Death and Em. Yay, babies.

My finding money on the streets of London is continuing. About 5 months in and I’ve found about £1.20

I moved to North London a few weeks ago.

I found a laptop on a bus and handed it in to a completely non-plussed driver

I killed my laptop then bought a new one. It’s lovely.

I went to a Radio Four recording, which was very funny.

I went to another (this week) and got fucked about by the BBC and didn’t get in. Splitters!

I’ve decided to grow my hair out.

Oooh, I have a million other little memories stored away of interest only to me, that I just want to get down. Expect fireworks! (That have been left outside all night in the rain)
